2014 Preview - Part II

Staring: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston

Why we're looking forward to it: We love proper monster movies and we need something to get us over Matthew Broderick. Plus we loved Monsters so the next thing by Gareth Edwards immediately gets our attention.

Venus in Fur

Staring: Emmanuelle Seigner, Mathieu Amalric

Why we're looking forward to it: Roman Polanski is pretty hit and miss but we're willing to give this one a go. Based entirely in a theatre, this looks filthy enough to be interesting.

The Purge 2

Staring: er.....

Why we're looking forward to it: We'll put this down as kind of morbidly interested in where this one will go. We didn't particualry get on with the original but the idea was intriguing so maybe returning director James DeMonaco can do something with this.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Staring: Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Andy Serkis

Why we're looking forward to it: We're huge fans of the original series and after the surprisingly good Rise, we're happy to check this out. That it's directed by Cloverfield's Matt Reeves certainly helps.

Jupiter Ascending

Staring: Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum

Why we're looking forward to it:  Ah, those Wachowski siblings..... Will this one be over-ambitious? More than likely but (sequels excluded) they're never dull so a woman being pursued by the actual Queen of the Universe has got to be worth a look.

The Keeper of Lost Causes

Staring: Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Fares Fares

Why we're looking forward to it: We're suckers for Scandi miserablist detectives in this country and this one looks to be exactly up that particularly dark alley. Mikkel Nørgaard's previous effort Klown was borderline terrible but if he can reign in the shock, this may be interesting.
